EKENYWA KIDERGARTEN (Arusha) is the personal project of Gebra and Flora Tillya. Gebra is a Thomson Safaris guide. He and his wife, Flora, began an informal kindergarten to teach several of the local Maasai children. The school grew, and Gebra and Flora even took several of the children into their home to live with them.

Friends of Tanzanian Schools began assisting Ekenywa in 2002, with construction funds for classrooms. California High School in San Ramon, California has been particularly generous to Ekenywa, contributing over $10,000 for Friends of Tanzanian Schools with the request that the funds be used for construction at Ekenywa.
