SANGITI SCHOOL (Moshe) is a Catholic school in Moshe, near Kilimanjaro Airport. Friends of Tanzanian Schools became acquainted with Sangiti through Growth Through Learning, a Massachusetts-based organization which provides scholarships to secondary school girls in Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda. Growth Through Learning, which had more scholarships recipients at Sangiti than at any other school in East Africa, urged Friends of Tanzanian Schools to consider a construction project there. Growth Through Learning arranged for Friends of Tanzanian Schools to speak with a representative of Sangiti while she was visiting in Massachusetts. Impressed, Friends of Tanzanian Schools contributed funds to build a classroom at Sangiti in 2002. Sangiti is a clean, growing, well- organized school administered by Sister Catherine.
